Frozen Treats Uncovered: Navigating Ice Cream Regulations
Jan 14, 2025

Ice cream is enjoyed worldwide, offering a delightful escape from the heat or a sweet ending to a meal. This dairy-based frozen treat boasts a high fat content, which contributes to its rich, creamy texture. Its dense and smooth consistency melts in the mouth, delivering a luxurious feel. Highly versatile, ice cream can be paired with toppings, served in cones, or accompanied by cakes and pies, making it a staple at celebrations. With its wide array of flavours, it remains a favourite dessert for people of all ages.

Unlike ice cream, many ice confections are water-based, giving them a lighter, icier texture. They tend to appear translucent and melt more quickly, leaving behind a crisp sensation, which makes them particularly refreshing, especially in hot climates.

While these frozen treats are beloved by many, they are subject to different sets of regulations across various regions. In this article, we'll explore how regulations apply to ice cream and ice confections in Southeast Asia and China, providing a comprehensive understanding of what's required to label and sell these treats:
