Question

ANSWER

There is no regulation which stipulates food to include any functional and nutritional claims, unless the food for which nutrient function claim is made contains significant nutritional amount to be considered as a source of that nutrient; stated in Table II to the Fifth A Schedule.

Only the nutrient’s functional claims or any other words of similar meaning are permitted as stated in Food Regulations 1985 and Guide to Nutrition Labelling and Claims. Labelling of the functional cookies shall complies to the requirements for the labelling of food as stipulated in the Food Regulations 1985.

The cookies must meet the requirements for Flour Confection as specified under Regulation 135 of the Food Regulations 1985.
