What are the permitted levels of Vitamin E in chocolate spreads according to Malaysian regulations? The chocolate spread contains 30% vegetable fat, 45% sugar, 10% cocoa powder, 8% milk powder and 2% emulsifiers.

ANSWER

The permitted antioxidants that may be added to edible oils and edible fats (fat spread) are stated in the Tenth Schedule of Food Regulations 1985 as attached below. Kindly take note that the maximum permitted limit is calculated “on fat basis”.
