Natural antioxidant in edible oil – If we are to add a natural antioxidant (the ingredient: sunflower oil, lipid soluble green tea extract) in an edible oil, what should we declare in the ingredient list of the edible oil label? Based on Food Regulation Malaysia, is it allowed to put as “Green Tea Extract”?

ANSWER

According to Regulation 179 & 207 of Food Regulations 1985, edible oil may contain permitted food conditioner and permitted antioxidant as specified in these Regulations – see attached document.
