Question

Is there any regulations on exportation of pork or pork related products such as pork bun, dim sum through land transportation from Malaysia to Singapore? What are the criteria to meet those regulations?

ANSWER

According to Procedures of Import and Export for Animals, Animal Products, Biological Materials and Animal Foods, exportation of animals, animal products, biological materials and animal foods shall obtain the approval and health/ disease verification from DVS based on the importing country regulations prior to export. The requirements for the exportation of animal products are as follow:

i. Export Application

  • The export application shall contain complete, clear and detailed information to be submitted to DVS before exportation.

ii. Regulations of Importing Country

  • The regulations of importing country shall be obtained in advance for each new application to ensure compliance with the conditions of the importing country.

iii. Veterinary Examination and Laboratory Analysis

a. Animal

    • Physical and health examination should be conducted on all the animal as well as livestock or pets such as dogs and cats according to the regulations of importing country.
    • Blood sample/ serum/ cloaca swab/ nasal swab and others shall be taken and laboratory analysis shall be conducted in accordance with the requirements set by the importing country.

b. Animal Products

    • Inspection should be conducted on premises as well as animal products.
    • Product samples/ swabs on equipment/ water samples and other relevant samples shall be taken and laboratory analysis shall be conducted in accordance with the requirements set by the importing country.

iv. Export Permit Application

  • Export permit shall be obtained from DVS via e-permit 1 system before exportation.
  • Export permit for animal and egg shall be obtained from origin state DVS.
  • Export permit for animal products and animal foods can be obtained from State DVS (origin) or DVS Putrajaya.

v. Veterinary Health Certificate (SKV) Issuance

  • SKV are only issued to animal products and animal foods that comply to the regulation and requirements of the importing country, based on the results of examination on the products from Veterinary and laboratory test results from Veterinary Officer or PBV.
  • The status of disease at the original location shall be verified first for every certificate made in the SKV.
  • The certificate made in the SKV shall be known precisely and definitively before being confirmed by the Veterinary officer.
