Sodium benzoate and Methyl hydroxy benzoate (Methylparaben) are commonly used as preservative/antioxidant for pharmaceutical products such as syrups and multiple dose containers for liquid preparations. It is mainly effective in controlling molds, inhibiting yeast growth and protecting against bacterial proliferation.
