Indonesia Nutri-Level 2026: A Guide to the New Requirements for Beverage Manufacturers
Oct 14, 2026

Indonesia Nutri-Level 2026 introduces new front-of-pack nutrition labelling requirements for specified beverages, bringing important considerations for manufacturers selling in the Indonesian market. The system uses colour-coded grades from A to D to communicate key nutrition information, including sugar, sodium and total fat, helping consumers make more informed choices.¹˒²

Under BPOM Regulation No. 10 of 2026, beverage manufacturers, importers and brand owners need to assess how the requirements affect their products. This involves reviewing product classifications, nutrition data, preparation instructions and registration status to determine whether label updates or formulation changes may be necessary.

With different implementation timelines for new and existing registrations, early preparation can help businesses plan packaging updates, coordinate internal teams and reduce last-minute compliance challenges.¹˒³

What Has Changed Under Indonesia’s Nutri-Level Rules?

BPOM Regulation No. 10 of 2026 requires specified beverages to display Nutri-Level information on the front of the pack. The system uses four grades—A, B, C and D—with colour coding ranging from dark green for A to red for D. The grade reflects the product's sugar, sodium and total fat levels, assessed against criteria set out in the regulation.¹

Nutri-Level is a front-of-pack nutrition labelling system that complements the nutrition information table. When updating packaging, manufacturers should review both the Nutri-Level label and the nutrition information table to ensure consistency and compliance with the applicable requirements.

Which Beverage Products Are Covered?

The initial requirements cover the following product types:

  • Ready-to-drink beverages

  • Powdered beverages

  • Liquid beverage concentrates

  • Solid beverage concentrates

How Is a Nutri-Level Grade Determined?

The assessment considers sugar, sodium and total fat content per 100 ml of beverage in its ready-to-consume form. For powders and concentrates, the calculation should follow the applicable preparation instructions. Each nutrient is assessed against the criteria for Grades A to D, with the least favourable result determining the overall Nutri-Level.
