Please advise if the addition of Lysine Hydrochloride is permitted in milk powder for 1 year old children in Malaysia. According to Food Regulation 1985, L-Lysine is permitted, but what about Lysine Hydrochloride?

ANSWER

In accordance to Regulation 389A of Food Regulations 1985, Lysine Hydrochloride is not permitted to be used in follow-up formula/milk for children.
