Question

Can you please share info on Collagen Benefits?

ANSWER

The intake of Collagen can be beneficial to our body in the following ways:-

Improvement of skin condition

According to Patricia et al. (2015) and Borumand & Sibilla (2015), oral supplementation of collagen was effective in the improvement of skin elasticity and structure of dermis. It also showed a positive effect reducing wrinkles and large pores after three months of consumption.

Joint Health

Collagen showed improvement in some measures of pain in men and women with osteoarthritis or arthritic conditions, and possibly reduces the risk of joint deterioration in a high-risk group, such as athletes.  Orally administered collagen hydrolysate accumulates in cartilage and stimulates the synthesis of extracellular matrix macromolecules by chondrocytes (Bello & Oesser, 2006).

Hair and Nails

Study showed a significant improvement in hair dryness and dullness as well as nail splitting, peeling and hardness by receiving the supplement formulation that contained peptides, lipids, hyaluronic acid, and collagen as its active ingredients (Yagoda & Gan, 2014).
