In Malaysia, what is the minimum amount/percentage where the manufacturers have to declare the allergen statement in the packaging?

ANSWER

According to Regulation 11(ae) & (5) of Food Regulations 1985, all foods containing ingredients known to cause hypersensitivity as the following must be shown on the label of the product:

a) Cereals containing gluten inclusive of wheat, rye, barley and oats

b) Nut and nut based products including peanut and soybean

c) Fish and fish based products

d) Milk and milk based products (including lactose)

e) Egg and egg based products

The allergen declaration on the labelling for other countries may differ according to their local regulations.
