HK consumer survey finds sizeable sugar rush in traditional desserts

The amount of sugar in a small bowl of sweet soup in Hong Kong should not be under-estimated, according to tests conducted by the region’s Consumer Council and the Centre for Food Safety.

TheRicebowl.Asia’s Take: There needs to be a clear medium for consumers to understand and know the ingredients of non-prepackaged foods in order to avoid consuming too much over the recommended consumption. Food vendors should also carry their weight in avoiding it by disclosing the ingredients of their dishes.
