Student representatives from Greehey School of Business - St. Mary's University led by Dr. Mathew Joseph graced DPO OHQ with their presence during the knowledge-exchange visit.
Being committed in supporting student development and educational initiatives, DPO International had just recently welcomed student representatives led by Dr. Mathew Joseph, Emil Jurica Distinguished Professor of Marketing from Greehey School of Business, St. Mary University of San Antonio, Texas to DPO International (OHQ) in Kuala Lumpur, on the 14th of March 2017.
DPO’s Group CEO, Mr. Daniel Pans gave a very special brief to the students, highlighting how his company plays a part in the food industry. He also emphasized that creating a harmonized workplace is essential, especially when your employees are from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Mr. Pans also touched upon the logistical challenges when it comes to transporting food which includes the risk of cold chain distribution and stock management. This is especially a challenge when there are various expiry dates and storage conditions for chilled, dry, ambient and frozen foodstuffs.
Mr. Pans ensured the students understood that food isn’t always about chefs, restaurants and supermarkets but so much more, encompassing food science & regulation, marketing techniques for retail, online & business to business and even the distribution of foreign foods in local markets.
Mr. Daniel Pans revisiting the early days of DPO and how it all started with one single employee transforming his company to an international organization in Asia.
Done in a more personal setting, students were encouraged to interact with Mr. Daniel Pans
The students from St. Mary University were thoroughly engaged throughout the presentation, asking many questions and sharing their thoughts & ideas.
